Everlast, a name synonymous with boxing, has a rich history that dates back to 1910. Founded by 17-year-old Jacob Golomb, the company started as a swimwear manufacturer, driven by Golomb's dissatisfaction with the short-lived durability of swimsuits at the time. He vowed to create suits that would last an entire year, dubbing them "Everlast."
Over the years, Golomb's company expanded into a small retail store that carried a full line of sports equipment. In 1917, a young fighter named Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb and Everlast. Dempsey requested that Golomb construct protective headgear that would withstand more than 15 rounds of intensive boxing training, and Golomb obliged. In 1919, Dempsey won the world's heavyweight championship while wearing boxing gloves custom-made for him by Golomb.
From that pivotal moment, Everlast became the go-to brand for boxing equipment around the world. In 1925, Golomb designed elastic-waist trunks to replace the leather-belted trunks worn by boxers at the time. These trunks, now known as boxer trunks, immediately grew in popularity.
Today, Everlast's men's and women's apparel and accessories continue to be popular both inside and outside the ring. The brand's commitment to quality and innovation has made it a trusted name in the world of boxing and combat sports.
